EStem Goes East With Warehouse Buy

Did you know that eStem Public Charter Schools has purchased the future location for its new elementary and middle school in Little Rock?

The nonprofit paid $1.7 million for the 111,096-SF warehouse at 400 Shall Ave.

Seller: Central Arkansas Area Agency on Aging Inc., led by Luke Mattingly. The 3.7-acre property on the edge of the Heifer Project headquarters campus is slated for redevelopment in time to open for the 2018-19 school year.

The project is part of a facilities expansion that will allow the charter school to grow its enrollment from 1,462 to 3,844.

You might recall that another component of that plan is to develop space for its high school on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus for the 2017-18 school year.

The original idea was to renovate Larson Hall for grades 11-12 and construct a new building on the north side of 28th Street between Fillmore Street and Fair Park Boulevard for grades nine-10.

We’re told those details aren’t written in concrete and could be changing.
